Materials That Are Not Allowed To Be Put In A  Drop-N-Go Waste Roll Off Dumpster Rental.......

Renting a Roll Off Dumpster from DROP-N-GO incurs some responsibility. Some materials cannot be put in the leased unit dumpster. All landfills have detailed rules regarding unsafe materials, to ensure they are disposed of correctly .

DROP-N-GO is not allowed to dispose of any hazardous items in a dumpster which may prove to be hazardous to health or may cause injury.

  • Paint as well as paint products such as turpentine
  • Large batteries,  Lead-acid batteries, as provided in G.S. 130A-309.70
  • Chemicals such as gas
  • Ammo or items in danger of combustion
  • Anything that might contain asbestos fibers
  • Used oil and oil filters
  • Antifreeze
  • Industrial/House cleaning solutions

You might be prone to a fine if any of the restricted materials are discovered in the dumpster, regardless of who placed them there. If you can’t throw something away in your rented dumpster, ask us what should be done to dispose of it properly .

There are regulations prohibiting some over-sized items from being placed in dumpsters in North Carolina. Ask us about such Items if you are unsure.

  • Giant equipment like commercial stove tops or refrigerators (ask about home stoves and refrigerators)
  • Whole scrap tires
  • Railroad Ties
  • Heavy building materials like concrete, brick and stone

It is wise to speak with DROP-N-GO for details of items which are prohibited for safety or legal reasons. If you have doubts whether particular materials are permitted to be placed in the roll-off dumpster, check before placing them in the container . Take care not to make the dumpster too heavy for   DROP-N-GO to drive away, as this is against the rules of the agreement.

Some areas of North Carolina may have extra restrictions on the following and similar items , so it is wise to be sure what you are permitted to dump in the dumpster beforehand.

  • Discarded computer equipment (includes laptops, desktops, monitors, video displays, printers, scanners, and printer-scanner-fax combos. As of March 16, 2015, mouse and keyboards are no longer covered devices and are not covered by the landfill ban
  • TV's
  • Fluorescent lights and thermostats that contain mercury
  • Wooden pallets, except that wooden pallets (mixed into construction waste) may be disposed of in a landfill that is permitted to only accept construction and demolition debris.

North Carolina will furnish a complete list of the materials which have to be disposed of in a approved way. Ensure you have a copy of the information so you are aware what can and cannot be placed in the leased dumpster. Failing to do so could see you having to remove illegally tossed things in order to avoid being fined.

If you have any further questions about dumpster policies in North Carolina, you should contact Drop-N-Go at 828-925-2270 or go to the NC DEQ website to get the answers you need.                                                    https://deq.nc.gov/about/divisions/waste-management/waste-management-permit-guidance/solid-waste-section/items-banned-from-disposal-in-landfills
